If possible I would give this book ten stars, Anyone who is interested in flying or getting a sense of the real Alaska should read this. If you are considering becoming a pilot or are an aviator your should read this book.It distills the essence of safe flying.
In the modern era pilots are becoming over automated and some are losing their basic flying skills. The preliminary report of the loss of the airliner in Indonesia indicates the accident and loss of life could be avoided if the pilots would have turned off a toggle switch.
The description of Mr Preists experiences describes the foundation of safe flying; good judgement, know your airplane. always expect surprises.
I am a retired professional pilot with 46 years experience and thousands of flight hours. I flew two of the airplanes described in his book, the Conquest ll and the Cessna 402. By coincidence I purchased the Conquest he flew new at the factory in 1980.
My wife and I have visited Alaska many times. We made several trips into the wilderness via chartered bush aircraft

Definitely for aviators or anyone who likes wilderness adventures. A really good read.
I highly recommend this book! Tony did an awesome job presenting the wilderness of Alaska through the eyes of a pilot. He continually described what he was seeing and left a vivid picture in my mind. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. I must experience Alaska now for sure, probably not as a bush pilot though.
My hat goes off to the Pilots and Flight Nurses in the great state of Alaska. All I can say is WOW!
