When Cassandra was just six years old she attacked a classmate in a frenzy of violence that left him hospitalized for three months, forcing the family to move to Garden City for a fresh start. She was treated for ADD, but now, as her sixteen birthday approaches, Dr. Sommer wants her to come off her meds. She has learned to channel her energy into running and, apart from the nightmares and the constant itching of the backs of her hands, she has had no further symptoms. Dr. Sommer is confident that everything will be absolutely fine. And he is right … to begin with.

But then her emotions are blowing up with her friends, with her family, and her body doesn’t feel like her own. The running would be helpful if it wasn’t now a dangerous compulsion, and if the backs of her hands ever stopped itching she might just be able to gather her thoughts. The longer she is off her meds, the more aware she becomes of just how alien and terrifying her body is, the violent secrets it holds, and the bloody fate awaiting her.

As Cassandra struggles to piece together the story of her own existence, masked men are attacking young women in Garden City. Cassandra is dragged into this darkness, powerless to resist the draw of violence. She has no way of knowing that answering the questions buried deep within her is the key to ending this bloodshed forever.

Cassandra: And they all fall down by Julie Hodgson is the story of a young girl who is struggle with emotions that many of us could never understand. Cassandra hurt a kids when she was six years old. But, let's explore that for a moment. The kid that was hurt was a class bully who Cassandra observed repeatedly picking on a smaller weaker student. When that student went missing on a school trip to a farm, Cassandra instantly knew the bully had something to do with it. She knocked him off a fence and got the information from him that she needed. The bully had locked his prey in the chicken coup and left him there. Once she freed the imprisoned child, she brought him back to the teachers where she saw the true damage she had done to the bully. He was bleeding all over the ground, and Cassandra did not have any memory of inflicting such terrible injuries. It was determined that Cassandra had ADD and she was given medication for it. Now as she approaches 16, her doctor has decided to take her off the medication. This was a very interesting read. The protagonist is both a hero and a villain at the same time. In a way, the author has left it up to the reader to decide whether or not Cassandra is something to route for or against. I enjoyed the read. The narrative moved at a steady pace and the author took time with the editing to create an excellent final product.

Cassandra And they all fall down eBook Julie Hodgson Reviews

Cassandra And They All Fall Down begins with an action reeling you in right off the bat. A good read and a real page-turner, although this awesome, suspenseful and fast-paced book has been clearly aimed at teens, the book should appeal equally to the broader range of adult readers as well who love to read mystery.
Constructed in a clever way, author Julie Hodgson has brilliantly blended many real world issues like mental illness, homosexuality with fiction and made the whole thing sound really likable and believable. It is a fresh take on delicate intricacies of the human mind and at first, I was waiting a bit to see where Cassandra was going with all her body and mind changes. But soon she started to grow on me and before I knew, she had me perched straight on the edge of my seat. Here is a fair warning to all potential readers, be ready to be spellbound, be ready to forget about the outside world like me as you go on an enthralling journey of the beautiful female who is battling with her own self and many other issues like murder, friendship, and love.
Julie Hodgson‘s marvelous plotting and expert pacing never make you feel bored as you turn page after page. This tale keeps you guessing, keeps you caring for the main character as you are absorbed in the twists of her life and how she bravely deals with each of them. Pretty much readable, it hides many mysteries and these secrets are slowly uncovered as the characters are developed and they chart their own journey. This psychological thriller addresses many concerns and that too without sounding as if the author is preaching about them. I must say that the author has done the full research on the subject and did full justice in the way she has used this information to craft such a brilliant story. This gripping, and action-packed tale from author Julie Hodgson will leave you pondering, will leave you wanting more and I hope that I will soon get to read a sequel.
Cassandra And They All Fall Down is a treat for all Julie Hodgson fans and definitely, a must read. I will mention that I have been reading all her books and this one comes under one of the best works.
The story is quite fascinating. Young Cassandra is being treated for A.D.D. after she attacks a classmate at just the age of six. Then she is taken off her medication and finds her body and mind undergo terrifying changes. At the same time, masked men are attacking and raping young girls in her town of Garden City. She finds that her awareness is increased to the extent that she can hear the cries of the victims, and so she is compelled to find vengeance with terrible punishment for the perpetrators of these hideous crimes. She needs help, but from whom - her doctor? Or will her new boyfriend be able to help?
This is one to savor if you like to be scared, and, yes, this kept my heart pacing fast a few times.
I have never picked up a title like this one before, I found that the synopsis stood out to me as not being anything like my other, more usual reading materials. The best part about this book was probably the way that the author has created a three dimensional character in the form of Cassandra. Her plight, no matter how alien to us as the readers, may be, is still feeling very iv, and very realistic. This is all down to the way that the author, Julie Hodgson, has managed to craft her story very well. We really feel for Cassandra and the difficulties she faces throughout the book, even if, sometimes, she is not actually the victim herself. In my opinion this book gives us an interesting insight into the minds and lives living with the condition of ADD and the way that it can impact not just the sufferer, but the lives of the people around them too.
As the name suggests, the book is about Cassandra, who suffers from ADD, the impact on her and the people around her. It’s her journey from childhood to being an adult, struggling with symptoms, controlling them and fighting her inner self and the surroundings that she at times cannot resist. The events in the story created by the author has really made the reader connect to the character and able to understand her reactions. The book provides readers the sense of understanding of the kids or adults that suffer from ADD disorder and how they might feel.
The plot interestingly highlights the ADD issue and its impacts. It’s full of emotional struggle of a person to find a place for herself.
